What should I do before laser hair removal at LAVEDY?
- Shave/Trim the treated Area
Smoothly shave the treated area 1-2 days before the procedure. For sensitive areas like armpits and intimate zones, take extra time and be careful to avoid cuts. Men should trim or shave their back, chest, and abdomen hair to skin level.
For facial areas – they should be worked with care, so the aesthetic specialists of LAVEDY laser studio recommend – do not pluck with tweezers/strips at least 10 days before the procedure. Shaving is not recommended under any circumstances. Wait for the hairs to grow back, and you can shorten them carefully with small scissors if they cause you discomfort. Only during the first procedure on facial areas should you have hairs that have grown back – during subsequent procedures, you will not need to treat them in any way, except for laser hair removal.
- Stop waxing or epilating
In order for laser hair removal to be successful, the hairs must not have been removed with waxing or epilating. This is because these methods pull out the hair, but its root remains in the skin and a new, healthy hair grows from there. For laser hair removal with the Cynosure Elite+ Alexandrite laser, the hair must be shortened to the level of the skin and have a healthy root. Only then will laser hair removal target the hair and therefore the hair follicle, otherwise the growth phases will be missed and the procedure will not be fully effective.
- Avoid Sun Exposure and Tanning
Refrain from sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning products for 2-3 weeks before treatment. A tan increases the amount of melanin in the skin, which can cause unwanted reactions during the laser treatment as the laser may not distinguish between the hair color and skin tone. So in simpler terms – when the sun exposed area is treated with laser – you would get unwanted reaction. That is why you should not expose to the sun the treated areas.
- Be Cautious with Medications
Avoid laser hair removal after taking antibiotics or photosensitive medications. With attention to cosmetics
Before laser hair removal, the skin must be clean. Clean the area of makeup, lotions, or oils with or without gold particles. Please limit the usage of products with acids or other active ingredients. If you have not had the opportunity to do this, your aesthetician will offer to clean the area on site.
